Belarusian weightlifter, acting in the weight category up to 109 kilograms, intends to fight for the Olympic ticket to Tokyo. Olympic champion 2008 year in weightlifting, Andrei Aryamnov did not compete at the national championship in “flocks” 14-19 September
In a comment for Sputnik, he explained, that participation in these competitions would not solve anything for him.
The weightlifter told, that he entered his weight category before 109 kg, but a couple of days before the start I could not go to the platform.
“I had to go home to Borisov for a few days for family reasons. Plus,, nothing would have been decided at this tournament: my team, representing Borisov and Minsk region, in case of victory or non-participation, would not change any positions in the republican rating”, - the athlete commented.
To the question, will an athlete be able to count on a ticket to the Olympic Games, which will be held in Tokyo in summer 2021 of the year, Andrey said the following:
“the main thing, so that the Olympics are not postponed again, and then we'll see. At the moment I am in working form. I do not show any super results: it's pointless to go to the peak, when there are competitions every six months. It is important for me now not to get injured and maintain my condition. I heal old sores and support myself with 9 workouts per week. I don’t lift extreme kilograms”.
Aryamnov also noted, that no launches are planned in the near future. The nearest - Spring European Championship-2021 in Moscow.
