IWF Submits IOC Approval Initiative for Camp Weightlifting Camp

International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) included in the qualification system of the Games 2021 years in Tokyo preparatory camp, now the initiative must be approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

This was announced to TASS by the president of the Russian Weightlifting Federation (FTAR), executive committee member IWF Maxim Agapitov. On Wednesday and Thursday a meeting of the IWF Executive Committee was held.

“We submitted to the IOC approval a proposal to organize a pre-Olympic camp, – said agapitov. – All athletes, selected for the Olympic Games, will be gathered at the camp for three weeks in order, that, First of all, repeat historical fact, this has already happened in 1896 year. Well, and secondly, purely practical purpose, so that all athletes are uniformly available for doping testing. If IWF gets positive at Tokyo Olympics, there will be a big risk of leaving the Olympics program for a long time”.

The exact location of the camp is currently undetermined.. Olympic Games in Tokyo will be held with 23 July 8 August 2021 of the year.
