IWF Executive Committee accepts resignation of organization head Ayan accused of corruption

Executive Committee International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) accepted the resignation of the head of the organization Tamash Ayan. It is reported by the press service of the IWF.

In early January, ARD released a film by journalist Jayo Zeppelt, in which President Ayan is accused of creating corruption schemes and patronizing athletes, caught doping. The film also reported, that IWF in many international competitions, including World and European Championships, paid doping officers for silence in case of detection of manipulations with samples of athletes. Due to scandal, Ayan was removed from his post at 90 days, Ursula Papandrea becomes Acting President of the organization.

“IWF thanks Tamash Ayan for over four decades of weightlifting, especially for his work recently, regarding the provision of the anti-doping program, complying with the standards of the International Olympic Committee and the World Anti-Doping Agency, – said papandrea. – Now we can begin work on determining a new path to achieving the full potential of our sport”.

Pity 81 year, he led the iwf with 2000 of the year.
